talk of peace
an ovenbird nests

cabin fever
a wandering mastiff

vast blue sky
     we empty
     her closets

the greening pastures
one hawk’s circles
answered by another

almond blossoms
the weight
of raindrops

late snow —
in the wire basket
onion sprouts

early thaw —
a kitten puts his front paws
on the windowsill

once again
just the two of us . . .
snowdrops in bloom

bull’s nose —
a swarm of bees
follows the pollen
